Small Business Saturday 2021

Filed in: C'est la Vie

Welp, I’m late. A lot of things slid this year and I’m learning to give myself grace to not be on time. However, having been featured in a couple sweet friends’ Small Business Saturday roundups, I wanted to return the favor. There are so many beautiful, amazing makers and small businesses out there and these are the ones that I love and will be shopping at and/or recommending!

What Is Small Business Saturday?

If you’re not already in the know, Small Business Saturday falls the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It’s a bit of a retaliation against big-box Black Friday promotions and a fun way to discover new (to you) local businesses and makers who are living their dreams. My favorites are below!

Phone Cases & Original Art by Jamie Beck

To say that I am in love with her work is an understatement. After being introduced to it by a friend around four years ago, I’ve been a dedicated follower ever since. Jamie never fails to inspire me and I am particularly in love with her black and white pieces—I have my eye on a Paris phone case.

Kindred & Co. Journals and Planners

Val creates paper goods “designed to help you be as you do.” They are intentional and uplifting—I love gifting them to friends. The journals and planners in particular are a hit.

A Thing Created Paper Goods & Prints

Erisha beautifully captures classic style with that dash of whimsy that I long for. Her illustrations grace all sorts of stationery, prints, and other products like fluffy pillows that make me want to live in a dream world.

Hopefolio

Hope is a light chaser and the person who encouraged me to lean in and create! I love the way she invites people into her artistic process. She’s offering custom poems and and watercolors. I’ve gifted a handful and they never fail to delight. A friend even messaged me months later saying how much they appreciated how Hope’s work encouraged them to pursue joy.

Kirsten Alana Original Photographs

Kirsten is an amazing travel photographer I’ve been following for some time. Over the past year or so, we somehow connected over our love for Paris. I have a one of her lovely black and white framed prints of the Louvre—it is worth every penny. Kirsten’s photographs make me want to see more of the world.

By Adelle Rose

My most anticipated book of 2022 is Evergreen by Adelle Rose. In the mean time, you can commission yourself (or a friend, or a family member) a custom poem. Adelle writes beautifully in a way that gently shakes the soul to life.

All the Pretty Places

This shop stocks wares from small business around the world. If you love a little European flair in your life, then you need to take a peep! I’ve got my eyes on these swoon-worthy notebooks.

MW Art Enterprises

Of course, I have to make a little plug for my postcards. I realized that I’m not so much of an artist as a keen observer of the world, and I love creating postcards to share that feeling of wonder, joy, beauty, and adventure with others. After all, the mundane everyday deserves to be extraordinary, too. Paris, Provence, and California postcards are in the shop.
