Safara and I bonded over our mutual love for clothes with pockets. She came wearing a super cool pair or wide-legged pants, and my first question was…”pockets?”. Sadly for the both of us, no. But that didn’t detract from the fact that she is a super cool human. Doula, English teacher…and I’d say adventurer! Before Paris, it was Los Angeles, and before LA, it was New York! She moved to New York at 18 to escape Ohio…and we both agreed that we feel very much alive in Paris!
In French there is a saying:
En avril, ne te découvres pas d’un fil; en mai, fais ce qu’il te plaît!
Which means, April showers bring May flowers. It’s been pretty much the opposite here, with April having been full of sunny days, and May seeing thunderstorms, hail, and downpours. I’m writing this as it’s lovely and sunny out, but the morning Safara and I met, it was COLD. I could barely move my fingers — and I can’t imagine how Safara felt in short sleeves!
Weather aside, Jardin du Luxembourg has a special place in my heart. It’s the first place I went to alone when I first arrived here, making it my first adventure spot. It’s not Tuileries nor Jardin des Plantes, but it’s beautiful and special. It was a pleasure to photograph Safara here! I admire her adventurous, determined spirit.
