What’s your favorite flower?
A bouncy ranunculus that is cheerfully orange? Dried lavender? A succulent, maybe, or blush peonies fully bloomed?
Our flower choices can say a lot about who we are. She’s in Bloom is a project making floral portraits of women by the flowers that they choose. Currently based in Paris, France, but packed up wherever life goes.
How it works:
Come to the natural-light studio for a floral portrait on FILM. (#filmisnotdead) Bring your favorite flower(s) in any form you wish. Dried, potted, cascading bouquet. You must wear all white (although shoes are of no importance) — the goal is for the viewer to know you by the flowers you choose. Any patterns or colors otherwise will be distracting.
Keep your makeup (should you choose to wear it) natural. Color is welcomed, but it should coordinate with your flowers. Same with your hair.
We’ll spend 30 minutes to an hour together, making portraits of you, your flowers, and both of you together. Don’t be afraid if the camera makes you uncomfortable. I will pose you naturally in a way that makes you feel confident. Part of the reason I practice and love the female portrait is because I believe we should all have photos of ourselves that we love and feel good in.
Following the sitting, allow for three to four weeks for film development and light editing, before receiving a series of images via a downloadable link. Follow along on Instagram, too, because I’ll be sharing your photos as I edit. I can’t wait to help you share who you are…through one of my favorite things— les fleurs!
